Something's brewin', about to begin, join Mary Poppins, the penguins, Victorian dancers and Bert as they step in time and take us to their outing in the park.
The show tells the story of Mary Poppins taking us to the park, for a jolly holiday, afterwards there is also a meet n' greet with the characters. So for a little while once again Main Street is inhabited by its very own turn of the century residents.
The Concept
This little streetmosphere show came rather out of the blue, as the resort reported record attendance during 2007, the entertainment department decided there would be need for a set of small new shows around the Disneyland Park. Using music from older sources around the resort, such as the heavily used Disney's Music and the Magic show, Mary Poppins Step in time section from the late 90's. Along with the Mary Poppins music from the Disney Cinema Parade, this small show may be simple, but is a crowd pleaser.
The show though is slightly different to the previous shows performed in this location, as it seems it is here to stay for the entire summer, and maybe even later. The name "Good Morning Mary Poppins", is also not official, as the show in the park is simply called "Mary Poppins", which no doubt gives it the opportunity to be performed well into the early afternoon as it has been known to do.
Previous Gazebo and Main Street shows
Main Street in the past has been host to some similar shows during the early morning hours of the park opening.
Good Morning Main Street: 1994 – 1996
Characters paraded down the street in the Main Street cars, along with the Victorian dancers, wearing their old Red and White costumes.
This show used some of the music even heard in the Mary Poppins show, as well as Good Mornin', Good Morning, which can be found in the Cine Folies, “Shooting Live” at the Walt Disney Studios.
Various Springtime Gazebo shows:
Over the years, mostly during the spring, around Easter the Victorian dancers have come to dance in the springtime at the gazebo on Town Square. During 2006's Easter season; Alice came to join in the fun with her host of “Wonderland” flower dancers.
